Your brand account is your name tag on Reddit. Set it up well and disclosure takes care of itself, because anyone who clicks your name can see who you are. Set it up badly and every helpful answer looks suspicious.
Choose a clear name
You have two good options:
- The brand name. For example, "YourBrand_Official." Clear and simple, but it can feel a little faceless.
- A person plus the brand. For example, "Sam_at_YourBrand." It feels more human, and readers like talking to a real person.
Either way, the name should make the connection obvious. Avoid names that look like a random customer. That defeats the point.
Make the brand own the account
Sign up with a company email, not someone's personal one. Turn on two-factor authentication. Store the login in your company's password manager. If the person who runs it leaves, the account and its history should stay with you.
Fill out the profile
Add your logo or a photo, a short bio, and a link to your website. The bio should say who runs the account and who they work for. Something like: "Sam from YourBrand's support team. I answer questions about our products, and about standing desks in general."
Use flair where it's offered
Some subreddits give brand reps special flair, a small label next to your name. It's a clear, visible form of disclosure. Ask the moderators if they offer it. Even if they don't, asking shows respect.
Decide who does what
Before your first post, agree on a few things inside your team:
- Who writes posts, and who approves them before they go live?
- How fast will you reply when someone mentions your brand?
- What product facts and specs can everyone quote?
- What topics need a manager or lawyer first, such as safety or legal complaints?
Start by helping
For the first few weeks, answer questions where you have real knowledge, without naming your product. It builds a history readers can see. When you do mention your product later, people can check that you've been useful all along.

Progress

With a trusted account in place, you're ready for the hardest part of Reddit: threads that criticize your brand. That's the next module.
